Lego Sets

Are you looking for a worthwhile project to do this weekend?  One that doesn’t require your phone or your laptop?  Or, perhaps, you want to build something you can play with or create one that’s worth displaying?

If you answered YES to all the questions above, you should consider getting a large Lego set. And, by large, that means several thousand pieces in a box. Add a layer of complexity with moving parts, repetitive components, or bricks with near-identical hues.

Think you’re up to the challenge?  Then it’s time to take your pick on this year’s most challenging Lego sets.

lego Liebherr R 9800 Excavator

Liebherr R 9800 Excavator

You’ll need to make sure specific components fit perfectly together for the excavator to function correctly. You’ll also need to download a mobile app to test it throughout the building process.

Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti Chiron is created on a 1:8 scale and features a working W16 engine with moving pistons, a disc brake system, opening doors, and a moving steering wheel.

But, don’t get fooled. It can be tough to piece together all 3,599 pieces, especially when dealing with differentials and gearboxes. Weighing over three kilograms, with a length of 22 inches and a height of over five inches, every effort is worth it for this supercar build.

The iconic Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters is the largest Lego in the Ghostbuster series, with 4 634 pieces. The replica stands 14 inches in height, nine inches in width, and 14 inches in depth.

It may look simple, but builders may find creating segments within the building challenge. Apart from recreating the rooms, you’ll also need to distribute various accessories and various foodstuff throughout the Ghostbusters headquarters.

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge

The Lego Creator Expert, with its architectural theme, is another Lego theme that includes several famous landmarks, such as the London Tower Bridge.

This set has 4,295 pieces; it can be tricky to tell the beige-colored bricks apart. Keeping the towers upright and making the drawbridge work make this project challenging.

Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is another famous tourist spot you can recreate with the Lego Creator Expert. Initially released in 2008 and re-released in 2017, the set has 5,923 almost identical pieces. The lack of variety in color and patterns are the most significant challenge in building this set. This tedious set can take around 25 hours to create.
