4 Fixes for Fatal Int18 Boot Failure

By  |

boot failure

Symptoms

When installing an operating system on your hard drive, the installer will mark the partition that includes boot files as ‘active.’ Every time you turn on the computer with that operating system, the BIOS will load and run the first sector on your bootable drive as a part of the boot process.

The first sector of that disk is called Master Boot Record or MBR. Master Boot Record includes code that confirms the partition table of partition, which is marked as active. After that, the MBR loads the boot sector of that partition. However, if your system is unable to find any available active partition, the loading process stops, and your system displays this error “Fatal: INT18: Boot Failure”.

Reasons for the Error

This issue or error will occur due to one of the following reason mentioned below:

● Cause No. 1 – No Active Partition is Available in your Operating System

If the Master Boot Record is unable to find any active partition on your disk to boot the system, the system loading process will stop. When you configure your system partition manually, there is a possibility that you may see this error.

● Cause No. 2 – The Boot sector of the Active Partition is not Valid

If Master Boot Record finds that your active partition is not a valid or non-executable boot sector while passing execution, you may see this error appear. There is a possibility that your boot sector is damaged due to power outages, boot sector infecting viruses, or disk write errors.
