8 Features Might Feature in iPhone 8
Everyone is waiting for the new iPhone. What makes the anticipation great is that this year’s iPhone will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. The most expected characteristic is its incredible display that will be much better than the older LCD screens. The 10th-anniversary phone is expected to cost well above $1000.
8. The iPhone 7 S will be bigger
The iPhone 7 will be followed by an ‘S’ version which is expected to have an updated processor and a bigger screen. A report from Barclays claimed that this year’s phones would come in two larger sizes than the usual 4.7 and 5.5 inches. The screens will measure 5 and 5.8 inches, which are rumored to be the sizes of the S versions of the iPhone 7. However, the iPhone 8 is expected to come in only one size.
7. The front will be all display and no borders
The Apple blogger John Gruber, from Daring Fireball, has claimed that the front surface of the iPhone 8 will be all-display. There will be no borders or bezels. Gosh! That is going to be one hell of a large display.
6. iPhone 8 will have a glass body and an aluminum frame
The Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo of the KGI Securities, claims the iPhone 8 will have a body made of glass on an aluminum frame. The iPhone 4 and 4 S has a glass back so, the aesthetics of the iPhone 8 might be similar to that. Another report from Nikkei, a Japanese news website also suggests that the new iPhone will no longer have a metal back.
5. No home button
This one is probably the most spread rumor of all. The new iPhone 8 will replace the physical home button with a Touch ID home button which will make use of optical sensors. Ming-Chi Kuo says that the thicker OLED panels will allow reading the fingerprints better than the usual capacitive touch sensors eliminating the need for an exposed fingerprint sensor on the home button.
John Gruber’s rumors support Kuo’s claim that the fingerprint sensor will be made invisible by embedding it into the front glass panel.
4. Incredible OLED display
Of all other amazing things, an anniversary phone deserves to have the best display ever, and the iPhone 8 is rumored to have it. The iPhone 8, which can be called as the iPhone 10, will use a different Touch ID fingerprint reader which is possible only with an OLED display. Other iPhones released this year will have the usual LCD but the anniversary premium phone will be different, having a power efficient OLED display which is superior to LCD in colors, brightness, and contrast.
3. Wireless Charging
A report by Barclay has suggested that the iPhone 8 will support wireless charging. A patent was filed in September 2016 by Apple for a wireless charging technology that strongly supports the rumor. Apple has even joined the Wireless Power Consortium, an industry group that develops wireless charging standards.
2. No headphone jack
This rumor has probably enraged Apple fans all over the world. The iPhone 7 has no headphone jack so it should not be a surprise that the next phones won’t have it as well.
1.Laser sensor facial recognition
While facial recognition is nothing new, the new iPhone will come equipped with a laser sensor capable of facial and gesture recognition for unlocking the phone. Apple acquired an infrared sensor company Primesense, a few years ago, which strengthens the idea that they may be introducing new infrared sensors in the next phone. With a price tag of over $1,000, we can easily expect this feature.
