9th Generation Console Shortage Is Still an Issue

Xbox Series X Vs PlayStation 5

It has been nine months since the release of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and gaming retailers are still having a hard time satisfying their customers. The ongoing period of console shortages does not seem to have an end, and all the gamers who have been waiting and saving for a next-generation console are looking for ways to satisfy their entertainment needs until their local electronics store or their preferred online shop gets a new shipment of PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. One can understand that the last 17 months have been hard for the world of commerce, but having to wait so long for a new gadget is simply frustrating.

Many of those who have patiently waited for a new console has given up on buying a PS5 or an Xbox, and instead, they have found ways to have fun by sticking with their old consoles, PCs, and visiting websites offering online games such as 9 Masks of Fire. After all, a new console is not the answer to every problem, even if one can spend hundreds of hours playing AAA titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Assassin’s Creed. At the end of the day, if one is desperate about playing demanding games, there is always the option of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

No matter where one looks, PlayStation 5 consoles always seem to be sold out. Some lucky players managed to get their hands on a new console during the month of July as many stores got a large shipment in the beginning of the month, but as the weeks went by, stores started putting up “sold out” and “fully booked” signs in their PS5 sections. Some stores have decided to prioritize the purchasing needs of customers who have memberships, placing their orders first every time a new shipment of consoles comes in. This has made non-members upset, but on many occasions, all it takes is to make a free account.

How Long Will Players Have to Wait for a New Console?

It is very hard to predict when the stores will get new shipments of 9th-generation consoles. Most players, no matter if they want to play the new FIFA 2022 game or if they want to play the next Final Fantasy, will have to wait until the Christmas period. Things are expected to pick up after September, but it is a little bit frustrating if you think about the fact that one has to wait almost one year for a PS5 and an Xbox Series X. The two consoles were released last November, and, in most countries, stores did not find a way to deal with the shortage of consoles. At the same time, Sony’s and Microsoft’s console manufacturing facilities are full of perfectly functioning 9th-generation consoles looking for a new home.

Are PS5 and Xbox Series X Worth the Wait?

The short answer is yes. The two consoles can really make a difference in the gaming experience. The 4K versions of PS4 and Xbox One were pretty good, but they are much weaker than PS5 and Xbox Series X. If you want to experience the best gaming has to offer in 2021, then you will need to arm yourself with patience and wait until the console of your preference becomes available for purchase.
