Apple Revealed a New Game Subscription Service Apple Arcade

Apple has joined forces with some companies including Annapurna Interactive, Konami, LEGO, and Revolution Software to create 100+ new and exclusive games for Apple Arcade.

This means that if you are a subscriber, you can download and play any of the games allowed on any Apple device. The service will only work on Apple products. It will apparently run on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. There will even be an option to share the subscription with your family members, so up to six people can have access.

Apple also made a piece of huge news that there will be no ads in games and no in-app purchases. I want to know how they’ve convinced all their developer partners to not have DLC a thing. Did they just say the devs can’t add the menu in the game to buy the DLC?

I know a lot of people are already griping about another subscription service, and I don’t blame them. A lot of our products are now simply subscriptions instead of the actual products. It already exists in gaming with Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now. Even Nintendo has a similar thing with Nintendo Online which gives you access to the ever-growing library of NES games.

My personal question is if this will actually survive. Their target is people with iPhones who like to play mobile games. The catch is that most people I know who play games on their phones don’t pay for any games they like to play for free, mobile gaming is something you do when you commute or getting bored at the doctor’s office it is not for serious gamers. They only play free games like Candy Crush or Angry Birds. They’re not going to waste money on a monthly basis to get access to more games.

There’s no information regarding pricing but Apple Arcade is set to release sometime this Fall.
