Battlefield 4 releases on October 29 for current-generation consoles and PC, and as launch titles for the PS4 and Xbox One in November.

The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 4 will feature more than 12GB of optional–but recommended–extra content that can be installed for “better performance.” Electronic Arts revealed the news on its website this week (via VG247).

Battlefield 4 on Xbox 360 will ship with two discs: one for the game’s multiplayer mode and the other for single-player.

The first time players start Battlefield 4 on Xbox 360, they will be required to install 2GB worth of content to their hard drives.

After that, players have the option of downloading an additional 6.6GB worth of content for multiplayer and an additional 5.8GB for single-player. The content may be optional, but EA strongly advised that gamers download it.

“We highly recommend performing these additional installations to make sure you have the best experience possible in Battlefield 4,” EA said.

It is not clear if other versions of Battlefield 4–for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC–also feature the optional installs.
