Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Got The Best-Ever Opening Weekend Ever!

Call of Duty always sells very well with millions of copies shipped worldwide for each game. So, what happens when Modern Warfare comes back as most AAA games are pushed to 2023? It gets the best-selling CoD launch ever, as it turns out.

In an Activision statement (via BusinessWire), the company stated that Modern Warfare 2 has sold more than $800 million in sell-through during its first three days on the market, making it the best opening weekend ever for the franchise.

In comparison, 2019’s Modern Warfare Reboot made just $600 million during the same time period, while the final game of the original trilogy fell just short of $800 million in five days. I have to say MW is still as famous and loved as ever!

Modern Warfare 2 (2009): $550 million in its first 5 days
Modern Warfare 3 (2011): $775 million in its first 5 days
Modern Warfare (2019): Over $600 million in its first 3 days
Modern Warfare 2 (2022): Over $800 million in its first 3 days
