Capcom Reveaeled The First Gameplay Footage Of RESIDENT EVIL 2 Remake
Capcom released a brand-new trailer that shows a brief preview of the RESIDENT EVIL 2 remake.
In the trailer, we see the game’s protagonist, Leon S. Kennedy making his way into the Raccoon City Police Department. From there, players are brought back to a somewhat familiar interior of the Police Station. However, instead of the well-lit hallways from the original games, the Remake sports a darker, creepier vibe, which is perfect for a zombie-infested survival horror game.
Moreover, the game will be played from a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective as seen in games such as Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6. The change in camera angle is a massive departure from the game’s iconic fixed camera point of view, which some fans of the game would prefer. Besides that, the trailer showed the technological leap in graphical improvements from the original game.
In a press release, Capcom explained how they build Resident Evil 2 Remake using the RE Engine. “The game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-pounding immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.”
In the same press release, Capcom talked about the significant improvements made on the game’s iconic zombies. “Zombies now react in real time as they take instantly visible damage, making every bullet from the player count. Stunning lighting brings the familiar rooms and corridors of Raccoon City Police Department to new life. Players will feel they’re in the shoes of heroes Leon and Claire, terrified to step out of the light for fear of what flesh-eating nightmares might await them in the darkness.”
Resident Evil 2 Remake is scheduled to release on January 29, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
