Cheating Website Ashley Madison Gets Hacked
Ashley Madison is a website that prides itself on confidentiality and helps you cheat. It is a dating website/social network designed for users who are already in relationships, who want to cheat. I suppose it has worked out well for users, but that may soon change.
According to reports, the website has been hacked and the database of Ashley Madison’s users along with their financial records and details have been stolen. A group calling themselves The Impact Team have taken credit for the hack. If this info gets out, a lot of relationships could potentially be in trouble. I wouldn’t want to be one of these people right now.
The group is holding the information ransom and has threatened to release all of it. They are not after a financial reward though. It seems more like a moral/ethical issue for the group. They are demanding that Ashley Madison and Established Men (another website owned by the group) be taken offline in all forms.
The company that runs the website and others similar to it says, “We have always had the confidentiality of our customers’ information foremost in our minds, and have had stringent security measures in place, including working with leading IT vendors from around the world. As other companies have experienced, these security measures have unfortunately not prevented this attack to our system.” Well, I hope there won’t be too many hurt spouses in all of this.
