Cyberpunk 2077 Will Run Great Even On Current-Gen GPU
Cyberpunk 2077 is looking awesome and it is getting better with every reveal—There’s also a new trailer out, in case you haven’t seen it already. But perhaps the most awesome news is that Cyberpunk 2077 will support DLSS 2.0.
This is the second generation of Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling technology, which uses A.I. to upscale pictures. The promise of DLSS 2.0 is much amazing graphics without the performance punishment that would usually come from running at a higher resolution.
We weren’t super impressed with Nvidia’s first implementation of DLSS—enabling enhanced performance, but the amount of image quality in many cases.
Nvidia partially addressed that with DLSS 2.0 as well, which no longer needs its AI network to be practiced on a per-game basis. Game-specific details still can be part of the equation, but it is no longer the only way.
CD Projekt Red worked with Nvidia to teach its AI specifically for Cyberpunk 2077, but either way, it will support the DLSS 2.0. That’s awesome news if you own a GeForce RTX graphics card, which is still needed for DLSS.
It remains to be seen how heavy Cyberpunk 2077 ends up being on the hardware. We also know that it will be released with support for real-time ray tracing, which is a demanding technology in and of itself, and what we’ve seen so far looks beautiful. Wea re hoping, it will run greatly as well.
