Ratchet & Clank will soon blast onto PlayStation 4 for the first time with a new game based on elements from the original Ratchet & Clank (PS2).
Ratchet & Clank re-imagines the characters’ origin stories and modernizes the original gameplay. Featuring all-new boss fights, several new planets, new flight sequences, and much more – with completely new visuals constructed to take advantage of the PS4.
Produced alongside the major motion picture coming to theatres in 2016, Ratchet & Clank is a curated experience borrowing from the spirit of the classic PS2 titles while infusing some of the best elements from the “Ratchet & Clank Future” games. Return to the Solana Galaxy and find all your favorite characters: Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and super villain Chairman Drek, as well as many new ones in this third-person action-adventure platformer. Explore exotic planets, collect out-of-this-world weapons, and help Ratchet and Clank save the galaxy for the first time, again.
“We started out thinking of ‘Ratchet & Clank’ on PS4 as a re-imagining of 2002 original, revised to tie in with the deeper version of Ratchet’s origin story (as seen in the film),” says Insomniac Games community lead James Stevenson. “We ended up with a new game, with elements based on the original — but now with modern controls, several new planets, new and updated gameplay segments, all-new Clank gameplay, all-new boss fights, new flight sequences, and more… all constructed to take advantage of the graphical prowess of PS4. Throw in James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, and you have a new beginning.”
When fans pre-order the game they’ll also get access to a weapon from Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando known as The Bouncer, which releases tiny homing bombs that bounce towards targets.
Ratchet & Clank is currently set for a spring 2016 launch.
