Every Upcoming Star Wars Game Coming Out Soon

By  |

There are exciting times ahead for Star Wars fans, as a variety of new games are on the horizon. With multiple publishers and developers working on these games across several genres, from strategy to first-person shooter, the current slate of games is set to be one of the biggest and most diverse in the franchise’s history.

According to reports, there are plans for two new Star Wars games to be released every fiscal year, with one being a larger AAA title and another being a smaller project. While some of these games are still years away from release, others are set to hit the market soon. Let’s take a closer look at some of the Star Wars games that have been announced so far.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

First up is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was officially confirmed in May 2022 and is scheduled for release next year. The game once again stars Cal Kestis, who is joined by his trusty droid BD-1. The game’s trailer showed off a brief look at one of the antagonists, a one-armed sith, and Cal will be using a brand-new lightsaber since this is a new game, and the progression route needs to be reset.

Respawn’s Star Wars FPS

In addition to the Star Wars Jedi sequel, Respawn Entertainment is also working on a new first-person shooter Star Wars game. Not much has been revealed about this game yet, but we do know that Peter Hirschmann will serve as director. Hirschmann previously worked on a number of Star Wars games, including the original LucasArts Battlefront titles, multiple Lego Star Wars games, and The Force Unleashed, as well as shooters like Metal of Honor and Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.

Bit Reactor’s Star Wars strategy game

Bit Reactor’s Star Wars strategy game is another title in development, being made in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment. This game is one of three in-development Star Wars titles that EA announced in January 2022. Former XCOM art director Greg Foertsch leads the studio, and with extensive work in turn-based tactics and hints on a job posting, the studio could head in that direction with Star Wars, but it remains unclear as of right now.

Star Wars Eclipse

Another highly anticipated game is Star Wars Eclipse, which is being developed by Quantic Dream, the studio behind Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human. The upcoming game is set in the High Republic era, which is an unexplored period in Star Wars lore, at least for video games. Quantic Dream’s unique gameplay and narrative style could make it vastly different from other Star Wars games. However, the studio has been experiencing its own share of problems recently, with lawsuits alleging poor treatment, and it’s not clear how far along Eclipse is.

Knights of the Old Republic remake

Fans of the classic Star Wars game, Knights of the Old Republic, will be excited to know that a full remake is currently in the works from port specialist Aspyr, and it’s headed to both PS5 and PC. EA’s separate Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO is ongoing, but Knights of the Old Republic’s story-focused single-player RPG style was riveting nearly two decades ago and should stand the test of time when the remake is ready to launch.

Star Wars: Hunters

Another unique take on the franchise is Star Wars: Hunters, developed by Zynga. This game is coming only to mobile devices and Nintendo Switch and is a third-person arena action game. Star Wars: Hunters lets you play as a wide variety of character archetypes, including Stormtroopers, Jedi, and Wookies. A “Hunters of the Outer Rim” competition will run alongside the game, offering rewards for the most dedicated and skilled hunters in the galaxy.
