The two-minute-long trailer mixes footage from an actual football match with footage from the game to show its realistic graphics and animations.
“FIFA 22 offers millions of fans around the world a chance to engage with the sport they love in an unprecedented way,” Nick Wlodyka, General Manager of EA Sports FIFA, said in a press release. “Each player experiences FIFA in their own way but on-pitch gameplay is the unifying constant, so we’re excited to offer deep innovation there. HyperMotion elevates that even further on next-gen consoles and Stadia and completely changes the feel of the game.”
FIFA 22 will be fully powered by the new technology and will join “advanced 11×11 Match Capture and proprietary machine learning technology to deliver the most realistic, fluid, and responsive experience” for PlayStation 5. The new HyperMotion technology also allowed EA to incorporate motion capture of 22 athletes performing at high-intensity speeds for the first time.
Electronic Arts promise that an algorithm developed into the HyperMotion tech “learns from more than 8.7 million frames of advanced match capture, then writes new animations in real-time to create organic football movement across a variety of interactions on the pitch.” In practice, this means HyperMotion has the capacity to change any and all shots, passes, or crosses made by players on the football field.
The Fifa 2022 will also feature Paris Saint-Germain striker and Kylian Mbappé on the cover for the second consecutive year. This means Mbappé joins a shortlist of back-to-back cover stars that includes Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. More details on the game are expected to be revealed during EA Play Live which will be held this July.
Developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania, FIFA 22 will available worldwide on Oct. 1 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The FIFA 22 Legacy Edition will also be available on Nintendo Switch. HyperMotion technology is only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia systems.
