Gears 5 New Level is 50 Times Bigger Than Any Gears Map
Gears 5 will come with the biggest single-player campaign in the series, including one map which is named The Coalition says is 50 times bigger than any previous Gears of War level. That’s according to Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson, who gave a lot of new Gears 5 details during a PAX panel in Seattle on Saturday.
Fergusson said a group of new features coming to Gears 5, including Jack, a partner bot who hovers around and gives many benefits that you’ll unlock over the course of the game campaign. Jack can cloak players, and Fergusson says that plays into one of the design aim The Coalition has for Gears 5: providing players to start combat when they want, rather than the traditional Gears campaign experience of stumbling headlong into a firefight after a firefight.
The capacity to control the pace of the game, and choosing whether to attack or explore, is also represented by the Skiff, which will be your transport through Gears 5’s campaign. From the Skiff, you’ll be able to take some side missions, choose weapon load-outs, find new points of engagement, and of course collectibles, and also you can install upgrades for Jack.
The central idea, according to Fergusson, is to provide players more options about what they’re doing at any given time throughout the game campaign.
During the talks with Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, Fergusson gave lots more details on Gears 5, which comes out on September 10. You can watch the whole panel on Twitch—Major Nelson Radio Live starts at the 3:30:25 mark.
