A Microsoft spokesperson revealed, “no plans” to bring online multiplayer to GoldenEye 007 on Xbox Game Pass earlier today in a statement.

There’s been some misinformation today about whether GoldenEye 007’s Xbox port will come with an online multiplayer or not, and unfortunately, it looks like the answer is that it’ll be limited to four-player local multiplayer alone.

In an article on the official James Bond website, it’s mentioned that online play will be “exclusive” to the Nintendo Switch version, appearing to confirm that Xbox won’t benefit from any online features at all:

“Exclusive to the new Switch version of the 1997 title will be online play, allowing 007 fans across the world to take part in the popular four person multiplayer mode.”

The article itself has been changed a few times today, so there’s a chance it could be wrong, but Rare has been advertising the game on the Xbox website without saying anything about online multiplayer, so don’t get your hopes up.
