Google Will Reportedly Unveil Pixel Phones
Google is planning to drop the Nexus moniker for its Android-based hardware. It seems like there’s more to that than just a rebranding effort.
According to Android Police, Google is gearing up to host an event on October 4, where it will announce several new products: Two smartphones – dubbed the Pixel and Pixel XL – a 4K-capable Chromecast dongle, and a Daydream VR viewer.
Pixel and Pixel XL are most likely the names for the HTC-built handsets codenamed Sailfish and Marlin; their specifications were leaked in June and a tipster shared information in July about the design of one of the devices. In July, we also heard that Google was working on a Daydream-based VR headset and it looks we might finally get a chance to see what the company’s been up to on that front next month.
So stay tuned, next month will be very exciting.
