GTA 6 Reportedly Features Female Protagonist
Bloomberg released a report on GTA 6 has arrived, detailing the game’s setting and scheduled release window, amongst other early development insights. Aside from a return to Vice City apparently coming sooner than we thought, Rockstar has reportedly made a load of internal changes after the development of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Following the departure of long-time Rockstar lead Dan Houser, apparently, the culture at Rockstar has changed dramatically. So much so that despite morale being “higher than ever”, some of the team are unsure whether the new setup will lead to the same caliber of game. We’ll just have to wait and see on that one.
What the new setup has supposedly led to, is a female protagonist for the very first time in GTA history. Bloomberg’s report details a female lead helping form a pair of playable characters for the game’s campaign, which in turn could feel “very different” from GTA 5‘s story mode.
The developer is supposedly aiming for a release in publisher 2K’s 2024 fiscal year, which runs from April 2023 through March 2024. However, some interviewed employees seem skeptical of hitting that date, and a group of Rockstar North developers reportedly left earlier this year, due to a “lack of progress”.
