HTC One X9 Camera Will Take RAW Photos and OIS Support

In a post teasing “what’s next after A9”, HTC said that the forthcoming phone would have a new 13MP camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and the option to shoot in RAW.

Neither of these features is new to the world of smartphone photography, of course, but a camera boasting both has a potential to be very capable indeed. OIS counters the effects of unsteady hands, helping to produce sharper photos and smoother videos, while RAW still images retain all the data captured by the sensor, giving the user more scope to edit them later in programs like Photoshop or Lightroom.

HTC’s tease didn’t actually name the next phone like the One X9, but we’d be willing to bet a substantial amount on that being the case. Back in November, we saw the first credible-looking image of the phone, along with some rumored specs: 2K 5in screen, 4GB of RAM, Snapdragon 820 CPU, and a 3500mAh battery. All of that should, of course, be taken with a pinch of salt, as the same report claimed there’d be a 23MP camera as well – and a TENAA registration spotted later suggests that the specs may be significantly different: 5.5in 1080p screen; 2GB of RAM; and 2.2GHz octa-core processor.

Chinese site Anzhuo released some new images to show the One X9 off in the flesh and it looks like iPhone 6.
