Leaked Starfield Image Shows a Familiar-Looking Weapon

Starfield

Two recently leaked screenshots of Starfield have surfaced, unveiling new details about the highly anticipated game. The leaked images provide a glimpse into one of the game’s loading screens and confirm the inclusion of a weapon inspired by the renowned AK series. These screenshots emerged shortly after the file size of Starfield was revealed, generating even more excitement among fans.

During Starfield Direct, a showcase held last month, Bethesda confirmed that their upcoming AAA game would place significant emphasis on gunplay. The event showcased intricate shooting and reloading animations, along with a diverse array of weapons that players can expect to wield in the forthcoming RPG. The arsenal encompasses energy blasters, laser rifles, melee armaments, and traditional ballistic weapons.

Among the showcased weaponry, the gameplay footage unveiled at the event featured at least one gun clearly inspired by the Avtomat Kalashnikova (AK) family of automatic rifles. While some fans initially compared it to the iconic AK-47, the weapon in question more closely resembles a member of the AK-100 series. A recently leaked Starfield screenshot, shared on the Discord server of well-known leaker Idle Sloth, offers another glimpse of this firearm. Accompanying this image is a loading screen from the game, providing a brief description of the Targeting skill, which boosts accuracy and range for any weapon fired from the hip.

The Targeting skill had already been highlighted during Starfield’s gameplay reveal in mid-2022, and the leaked loading screen description aligns with the content showcased, lending credibility to its authenticity. Additionally, the leaked image raises speculation about the loading screen’s format. Despite the heavy compression of the screenshot, its resolution of 936 x 341 suggests that Starfield might support ultrawide monitors upon its release. While mods have enabled ultrawide monitor support for previous Bethesda RPGs, none of the studio’s titles have offered this functionality out of the box.

The gameplay screenshot further confirms that Starfield will feature an item rarity system, with armor pieces possessing distinct protection stats for thermal, airborne, corrosive, and radiation damage. Additionally, specific equipment will enhance the player’s physical, energy, and electromagnetic damage.

Although it remains to be seen how many AK-inspired weapons will be available at the game’s launch, fans can rest assured that extensive modding support will enable the inclusion of a wide range of weapons in the RPG. Bethesda has recently reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a modder’s paradise within Starfield, emphasizing the opportunities for customization and expansion.

Starfield is set to launch on September 6 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, promising an immersive and thrilling experience in the vastness of space.
