LightMode Turns Motorcycle Helmets Into Something From TRON
LightMode is a permanent helmet modification, it can adorn your high-tech Skully P1 Motorcycle Helmet with electroluminescent (EL) strips to keep you easy to spot at night. Even better, you can install the lighting in whatever shape you want. Want to decorate your riding helmet with a light-up mohawk? Not a problem. What about lines similar to Magneto’s helmets in the comic books? Yep, that will work.
Available as a kit, the LightMode comes with electroluminescent wire, electroluminescent tape, curved mounts, super strong glue, design string, and a light controller. To deck your helmets in the lighting material, use the string to plan out a design, then start mounting the EL wire using either the included tape or the adhesive, depending on the design you have in mind. Once you’ve got it wrapped just right, clamp the controller unit to one side of the helmet (using the curved mount) and hook it up to the end of the EL wire. Voila, your futuristic light-up helmet is armed and ready. The controller comes with three modes (off, constant glow, and blink) and a 2,000 mAH rechargeable battery, good enough for 13 hours of use.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running to fund LightMode. Pledges to reserve a kit starts at $69.
