Lime E-Bikes Now With Improved Battery Life

Mobility startup Lime has begun rolling out a new swappable battery to its caravan of electric bikes and scooters. More battery life would be great. According to the business, it is a substantial upgrade over the one it operates now. The nearly 1 kWh battery features twice the capacity of Lime’s earlier design.46 kWh design. And the battery is consistent with the company’s existing Gen4 and Citra e-bikes and scooters so that Lime can improve the abilities of those vehicles without substituting them outright.

Lime says it intends to deploy the battery in some cities over the summer, including Paris and Long Beach, before rolling it out to a wider segment. This means that Lime’s vehicles can transit further, which lets the business save on operating costs since its charging vans no longer need to make multiple trips.

The timing is excellent coming after a drop in ridership at the start of the pandemic when the company saw people turn to its service for their transport needs even more. And then there are gas prices in the US and other parts of the world that are at historic highs, so people are looking for more cheap ways to travel.
