Mafia 4 Is In Development, Using The Incredible Unreal Engine 5

Mafia4

We have some brilliant news for Mafia fans out there! It looks like Mafia 4 is in the development phase over at developer Hangar 13, and it’s going to be a prequel to the Mafia trilogy. It’s also being created using Unreal Engine 5.

This is according to a report from Kotaku, which is also establishing that Studio Head Haden Blackman is leaving after seven years at the studio, along with Chief Operating Officer Matthew Urban. The replacement for Blackman is Nick Baynes, who is currently Studio Head at Hangar 13’s Brighton, UK office.

Here’s what 2K reportedly told staff about Baynes earlier this week:

“With 30 years of industry leadership experience, Nick joined Hangar 13 in 2018 to establish Hangar 13 Brighton, and has spent the last four years growing the team, building up the studio’s capabilities, and launching terrific projects like Mafia: Definitive Edition and the Mafia Trilogy.”

There might be a bit of turbulence behind the scenes, then, but in regards to Mafia 4 specifically, all we know is that it’s apparently a prequel being created in Unreal Engine 5, and everything else is just guessing.
