Man Found And Returned a Working iPhone That He Found At The Bottom of a River

YouTuber Michael Bennett operates a channel called “Nugget Noggin” in which he dives into rivers in quest of lost treasure. A lot of his content involves scrounging up waterlogged laptops or GoPros. But every once in a while, something truly unusual happens, like when assumed trash returns to its unrealistic pedestal.

Earlier this week, Bennett scrounged up an iPhone in a filthy waterproof case at the bottom of the Edisto River in South Carolina and managed to return it to its rightful owner.

In an interview with local news outlet WDAM 7, Bennet said “I came across something that looked kind of like a rope may be connected to car keys, and when I pulled it up, I have seen a phone inside of a waterproof case and I’m like, ‘No way, this is unbelievable!'”

Upon opening the case, Bennett was even more shocked to discover it still worked. The phone belonged to an Erica Bennett, who revealed that she had lost the phone on June 19, 2018. Over a year later, the phone is returned to her, and Erica not only was able to recover her photos from the day she lost it but was able to recover some final photos and conversations that she had with her deceased father, who passed away shortly after the phone was dropped in the river.
