Naughty Dog Explains Why Uncharted Trilogy Doesn’t Include Multiplayer
Sony & Naughty Dog announced Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection featuring Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for PS4 but it doesn’t include the multiplayer components of UC2 & UC3.
ND didn’t reveal the reason behind excluding multiplayer for the collection, but now community strategist Eric Monacelli tells the reason why multiplayer wasn’t included in a recent interview:
“Our communities are still really strong. Like Uncharted 3 … I get submissions every week from people still, which is a testament to how strong that community is, Monacelli told Mashable.
People are still playing Uncharted 2 [online], believe it or not. 2009 was when [that] came out. It’s a pretty old game but people love it.”
The development team felt that porting the multiplayer portion would break the dedicated Uncharted PlayStation 3 community, but the bundle does come with beta access for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End multiplayer.
Eric Monacelli goes on to reveal more details about Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection: “We’ll have 55 to 65 different skins. They’ll probably all be unlocks, and as you play through you’ll earn them.”
The collection will add new difficulty settings which helps both the new fans and old Uncharted series fans. “If you’re super hardcore, we’re going to add something we call Brutal.
If you already beat [the highest difficulty], Crushing, and you’re awesome at it, you’re gonna be challenged.”
“You’re gonna get to see Nathan Drake’s story from beginning to end, which we’ve never shown before.
It’s one of those things where if you play them all back to back, you get a good, clear picture. We put a lot of love into our characters.
It’s almost like when you watch a Netflix series straight through, you get the full-fledged version of what that character is,” Monacelli concluded.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will be available on October 9, 2015.
