New Casting News From Netflix’s THE WITCHER Series
Netflix’s series adaptation of The Witcher is the series which I and all the fans of the franchise are waiting for. The latest casting of the show is of Anita Olatunji. According to Olatunji’s page, she will be performing the role of Woman. This is a very dark role, and many are assuming that it will actually be announced that she is Vea, one of two Zerrikanian warriors known for their skills with a blade.
Callum Coates (Street Fighter: Resurrection) was also cast in the series. Sadly, there’s no information on who Coates will be playing in the series.
There’s still no word on when Netflix plans to release the show based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, but my guess is next year. Who would you want to see Olatunji or Coates play?
The Witcher chronicles monster hunters who, with training and body modification, develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle deadly beasts. Executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown previously released the following statement offering some additional insight into the story:
“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
Henry Cavill is set to take on the lead role of Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, who “struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”
