Meet the Penta camera (meaning a five-sensor camera) moniker.

Xiaomi has teased (via Android Authority) a new smartphone called the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro, which boasts an impressive feature: a 108-megapixel, Penta rear camera with 5x optical zoom.

Xiaomi already launched a 108-megapixel phone — the limited release Mi Mix Alpha with its wrap-around screen — but the CC9 Pro will be the first publicly available phone with Samsung’s new 108-megapixel sensor. Although the megapixel number may seem extreme, the phones outfitted with it will primarily use a technique called pixel-binning to produce sharper, brighter 27-megapixel images.

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro is coming November 5.

Xiaomi hasn’t been at the forefront of smartphone photography; its phones have powerful specs, but in reality, they often linger behind top smartphones from other companies. But Xiaomi’s phones are also usually a lot cheaper than the opposition – with a good price tag, the CC9 Pro could be an intriguing contender.

There are no additional details about the CC9 Pro, but that it’ll be launched at a November 5 event, when Xiaomi is also supposed to release a new smartwatch and a new version of its Xiaomi TV.
