The Outer Worlds Peril On Gorgon

Obsidian has been one of the best developers since the release of Knights of the Old Republic 2 back on OG Xbox. When it was revealed that Microsoft would be getting the studio it felt oddly like a coming home of sorts. With games like Kotor 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and most recently The Outer Worlds, it is exciting to see what they will take it into the Microsoft ecosystem. I wasn’t disappointed, as, during today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Obsidian revealed 3 separate things in the works for long time fans of the developer.

The Outer Worlds: Peril On Gorgon

The Outer Worlds is getting its first story-based DLC this September on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Set on the Gorgon Asteroid, players are trying to discover how Adrena-Time came into being. Along the journey, a number of new weapons, items, armor, and perks will be available. The games base level cap is also being elevated for all of you tout there already sitting with a maxed out Stranger! Peril On Gorgon will be available for $14.99 across all platforms with Game Pass subscribers getting an extra 10% discount. If you want to bundle your Outer Worlds DLC purchase, an expansion pass is also available that connects both story expansions for $24.99.

Ahead of its early access release which will be on July 28, Obsidian has given us a new look at its future survival game Grounded. The trailer show off the games co-op gameplay as well as structure building and battle. Probably the biggest aspect to the trailer though is how Obsidian blatantly points out how this isn’t their usual style of game and that great Cyberpunk 2077 reference! Grounded looks like it will be a fabulous little survival game.

The last game from Obsidian is the announcement of Avowed. For fans of Obsidian’s roleplaying roots, this is the reveal you have been waiting for! Set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, Avowed has gamers using swords and magic to take out enemies. While the trailer is just a teaser, it is surely great to see another game that can probably scratch that Elder Scrolls itch. Avowed is set to come only to Xbox Series X and PC when it finally released in the next couple of years.
