PS3 Emulator Now Play Every Game Ever Released On PS3

PS3 Emulator

RPCS3, is a brilliant emulator which can boot PS3 games playable on a PC. From those small beginnings, the team behind it has just announced a tremendous milestone: everything ever released on the PS3 will now be playable on PC.

Today the RPCS3 team tweeted:

We’re delighted to announce that RPCS3 now has a total of ZERO games in the Nothing status! This means that all known games and applications at least boot on the emulator, with no on-going regressions that prevent games from booting. We look forward to emptying out Loadable too!

There have been over 6000 titles and programs tracked over the emulator’s existence, so to get every single one of them to some stage of booting up is an unbelievable achievement. It’s essential to note, though, that of the emulator’s 5 tiers of playability, only one—”Playable”—is worth your time, since the others are saddled with enormous numbers of glitches, performance problems, or simply the fact they refuse to load through the title screens.

It’s not like every single PS3 game ever released will now run easily and without problem on your reasonably modern PC. As of today, 63.53% of PS3 games are “playable” on the emulator, which indicates 36.47% are not; still an amazing number.

As they mention in the announcement tweet, they “look forward to emptying out Loadable too!” after this, which shouldn’t take too long since only 0.19% of games reside in that state. Actually, only 5.75% are at the “Intro” stage after that, meaning they’ll boot but not “make it past the menus”, so it probably won’t be long until those two tiers are made out as well.
