PS5 DualSense Controllers Are Cheap Right Now
The PlayStation 5 DualSense controller, renowned for its advanced haptic feedback technology, has been considered the priciest “next-gen” controller. However, an exciting opportunity has emerged to grab this cutting-edge accessory at a substantial discount. Various retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and the PlayStation Store Direct, are currently offering the controller for just $50 each, a notable $20 off its regular price of $70. This limited-time promotion runs until August 20, making it an enticing deal for gamers looking to expand their controller collection or secure a spare.
While some may still be hesitant due to its original price or certain features like the trigger resistance, which can feel disconcerting in certain games, this offer presents an ideal chance to obtain an extra DualSense for multiple purposes.
If you’re among those who have been using the base white version since the PS5’s launch, you now have a plethora of vibrant color options to choose from, such as Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple. These striking color variants seem like the remnants of a star that Galacticus himself swallowed and then fashioned into perfectly shaped PS5 peripherals. Alternatively, for those willing to splurge, the DualSense Edge offers a premium experience.
Many gamers, including myself, have been eyeing an additional DualSense ever since their primary controller started showing signs of wear and tear. With broken trigger pins, sagging buttons, and missing rubber nubs on the analog sticks, it’s evident that controllers of yesteryears were sturdier than the current ones, even at a $70 price point. Unfortunately, many third-party alternatives are locked out of the PS5 ecosystem, limiting options for replacement.
The need for a second controller becomes particularly apparent when delving into split-screen co-op gaming. Excitingly, some games like Diablo 4 and the PS5 port of Baldur’s Gate 3, slated for release in September, now support split-screen co-op, prompting a desire for a companion controller. Personally, my main motivation is to team up with my eldest and play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge together. He’s been practicing on his own, and with the Dimension Shellshock DLC arriving later this year, it would be fantastic to share the experience with him and dive into cooperative adventures.
