PlayStation VR2

The next-gen consoles have already finished their freshman year with a  start, because of the massive chip shortages and a lack of console availability, we are keen to look into the next advancement these gaming consoles can deliver. Last month, PlayStation announced new details about their next version of VR headsets and provided us a peek at what is to come. Today, PlayStation released its official site for the PSVR2 and is currently allowing sign-ups for updates, game information, and significantly pre-order dates. Users have to simply log in to their PlayStation account to sign up for the newsletter.

The PSVR2 is boosting everything from its predecessor. The next-gen VR headset will give 4K HDR visuals at up to 120 FPS, eye tracking for enhanced immersion, and built-in cameras to track your every movement which eradicates the need for an external camera. One additional feature that is unique to the PSVR2 headset is the vibrations that will be used to simulate different experiences for further immersion for example as the thrust of your vehicle as you are speeding forward.

Although the headset is still under a blanket of mystery, we do know exactly what the new PSVR2 Sense controllers will look like and function. Clearly taking motivation from other VR hardware, the PSVR2 Sense controller will deliver analog sticks and finger touch detection. These features will enable more fluid movement and control over its last iteration. Finger touch detection is a warm welcome and will copy actual gestures without having to press a button.

Taking a cue from its cousin, the PSVR2 Sense controller will also have fan-favorite features such as the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that helped make the DualSense so famous. Things are looking brilliant for PlayStation VR2 and it looks like Sony is making the right improvements. Hopefully, Sony has learned its lesson from the questionable tactics they have used with the PS5 “pre-orders” and will give gamers a much better process.
