The handset has helped Samsung improve its market share in the competitive smartphone market with the Galaxy S7 edge accounting for 2 percent of all Android smartphones shipped in the first half of 2016.

Android share in the smartphone market rose by 5 percent to 557.3 million units this year while Apple sales fell by 16 percent to 91.6 million.
