Described as a “complete weather station,” it lets you do the same work metereologists from the local weather bureau are doing to predict the coming day’s weather directly from a smartphone. While it’s far from the first accessory of its kind, it is a lot more compact than the ones we’ve seen before, looking no larger than the Hookeychain that holds the keys in your pocket.
The Skywatch Windoo pops into the 3.5mm slot on your phone, instantly giving it access to a functional anemometer. It comes in three versions: Windoo 1, which measures wind speed, wind direction and temperature; Windoo 2, which adds humidity measurements; and Windoo 3, which adds pressure readings to complete the sensor array. All sensors are Swiss-made for precision and reliability. Designed to withstand outdoor use, it features an anodized aluminum housing, a stainless steel shaft, and a carbon case, combining to protect the multi-directional propeller, magnetic transmission, and all the other hardware parts. It can track wind speeds up to 93.2 mph, give or take a two percent rate of accuracy.
All readings are fed to an accompanying smartphone app that’s available on both Android and iOS. You can check all the readings directly from the app, as well as graph and map the data for legitimate-looking weather forecasting charts.
Pricing for the Skywatch Windoo starts at $66.
