Starfield Xbox Controller Comes With Surprise Bonus
The special edition Starfield Xbox controller comes bundled with an exciting bonus for its owners—a dynamic background that can be enjoyed on their Xbox consoles. Starfield, Bethesda’s highly anticipated game, recently received a captivating 45-minute deep dive, providing fans with an in-depth exploration of the game’s expansive open world and intricate gameplay systems. Building up the anticipation even further, the Starfield Direct event showcased the Constellation Edition of the game, as well as two Starfield-themed Xbox accessories—a new Xbox headset and controller.
One of the standout features of the Xbox Series X/S consoles is the inclusion of animated dynamic backgrounds. Over time, Xbox has introduced backgrounds from both first and third-party games, such as Halo Infinite, Pentiment, Dead Space, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Redfall, and most recently, Diablo 4. It has become customary for Xbox to release a dynamic background for each of its major first-party games, and with the impending launch of Starfield, fans can expect a wider selection of backgrounds to choose from.
On Twitter, Tom Warren from The Verge shared a brief video showcasing a new dynamic background that can be unlocked by owning the newly revealed Starfield-themed Xbox controller. The background features a dark screen adorned with swirling white topographic lines. This theme is a perfect fit for Starfield, as topographical lines have been prominently featured in the game’s artwork thus far. In this massive space-faring RPG, players will have the opportunity to explore the topography and environments of thousands of planets, making the dynamic background an immersive addition.
However, the reception to this new background has been mixed, with many people expressing their disappointment and considering it to be generic. Some fans are hoping that Xbox will release a more vibrant and captivating background upon Starfield’s release on September 6. It is not uncommon for an Xbox game to have more than one dynamic background. For instance, in 2021, Halo Infinite offered fans two dynamic backgrounds—one featuring the game’s cover art and another showcasing Master Chief valiantly protecting a marine from Needler fire. Considering this precedent, it is possible that fans might see Starfield’s stunning cover art brought to life in an animated background, or perhaps a dramatic scene depicting one of the game’s diverse planets.
Typically, Xbox’s dynamic backgrounds have been free additions, so it is surprising that one of them is being tied to a special edition controller. It is plausible that this Starfield background will become available to everyone at the game’s launch, and its exclusivity with the controller is simply a limited-time bonus for early adopters. Regardless of the specifics, it is evident that Xbox has been enhancing the consistency of its dynamic backgrounds in recent months, as they have been relatively scarce since the Series X|S launched in 2020.
Mark your calendars for September 6, as that’s when Starfield will make its eagerly anticipated debut on PC and Xbox Series X|S. Prepare to embark on an interstellar adventure like no other, as Bethesda takes players on an epic journey through the depths of space. And with the promise of additional dynamic backgrounds, the immersive experience of Starfield is bound to captivate players even further.
