The Boys and Call of Duty Unite in Epic Crossover Event
Activision recently made an exciting announcement that is set to shake up the world of Call of Duty. In a surprising crossover, characters from the popular comic book and Prime Video series, The Boys, will be joining the ranks of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
The collaboration, revealed by the enigmatic Black Noir, introduces three iconic characters from The Boys into the Call of Duty universe. Fans can look forward to playing as Black Noir, Starlight, and Homelander, portrayed by Erin Moriarty and Antony Starr respectively, as part of special character packs.
The release of these character bundles will be staggered over three separate days. First up is Starlight’s pack, which is scheduled for release on July 12. Homelander’s pack follows on July 16, and Black Noir’s bundle concludes the series on July 20. Each pack will be available for purchase at 2,400 COD Points, equivalent to approximately $20.
In addition to the characters themselves, each bundle comes with an assortment of exclusive in-game items. Players can expect a weapon decal, emblem, loading screen, weapon charm, three weapon blueprints, and a finishing move. Black Noir and Homelander’s weapons are particularly notable, as they feature dismemberment effects. Black Noir’s arsenal deviates from traditional firearms, offering players a pair of dual blades for a stealthier approach.
While the character bundles take the spotlight in this crossover, Activision has also revealed the inclusion of special challenges. These challenges grant players the opportunity to unlock unique gun skins in either red or gray. Completing challenges specific to a particular weapon class will unlock the gray skin for that class, while completing all ten challenges rewards players with the coveted red skin for every class. Additionally, achieving this feat will unlock a special weapon charm as a testament to the players’ prowess.
Warzone 2 players will receive an additional treat in the form of the Temp V field upgrade. This upgrade grants access to one of four random superpowers, adding an extra layer of excitement to the gameplay. The superpowers include a charged jump that nullifies fall damage and causes splash damage, an electric shockwave, laser vision, and the ability to teleport forward. However, it’s worth noting that the Temp V upgrade will not be available in ranked play. Furthermore, The Boys-themed billboards will be scattered throughout the Vondel map in Warzone, adding a touch of the crossover’s ambiance to the game environment.
Interestingly, some players had already speculated about this crossover prior to the official announcement. The trailer for the Vondel map subtly hinted at The Boys’ presence with the inclusion of the series’ logo spray painted on a building, further fueling the rumors. Additionally, a Call of Duty leaker accurately revealed the details of the three character bundles, adding to the anticipation surrounding this unique collaboration.
The Boys and Call of Duty fans alike can look forward to this exciting crossover, where the world of relentless superheroes collides with the intense battlegrounds of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. With new characters, exclusive items, and thrilling challenges, this collaboration promises to deliver an adrenaline-pumping gaming experience for players to enjoy.
