Bethesda, the renowned game developer, has officially confirmed that its highly anticipated role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls 6, has entered the early stages of development. This news comes after the game was officially announced in 2018, creating a significant buzz within the gaming community.

Pete Hines, the head of publishing at Bethesda, recently spoke to Vandal about the impending release of another of their highly anticipated titles, Starfield. During this conversation, Hines revealed that The Elder Scrolls 6 has successfully completed the pre-production stage and has now transitioned into the active development phase. When asked whether fans can expect more information about The Elder Scrolls 6 following the launch of Starfield, Hines responded, “We have put all of our studio’s focus on making this game the best it can be. And yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls 6, but this is what the studio has focused on. So no, you are not going to hear soon about The Elder Scrolls 6. Starfield is our focus for now, and it’s going to remain our priority for a while before we talk about anything else.”

Furthermore, when pressed about whether The Elder Scrolls 6 was still in the pre-production phase, Hines clarified, “No. It’s in development, but it’s in early development.”

This news has undoubtedly excited the Elder Scrolls series fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the next installment in the beloved franchise. However, it’s important to note that Bethesda’s primary focus currently lies on Starfield, a space-themed RPG, which suggests that The Elder Scrolls 6 may still be a considerable way off from its official release.

Interestingly, Todd Howard, the director at Bethesda, reflected on the announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6, stating that he might have revealed it differently in hindsight. Howard suggested that a more casual approach to the announcement might have been more suitable. The initial announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6 was made at E3 2018 through a brief teaser trailer, but since then, Bethesda has shared minimal information about the game, likely due to its early development stages.

Additionally, during the FTC trial involving Microsoft in June, Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still “five plus years away.” This revelation indicates that fans must exercise patience as they eagerly await the opportunity to immerse themselves in the next fantasy RPG from Bethesda.
