CD Projekt Red has revealed that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S variants of Cyberpunk 2077 will come out in Q1 2022, followed by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which will release in Q2 2022. They had previously been projected for launch near the end of 2021, which itself would have been about a year after the games originally launched on last-gen consoles and PC.

CD Projekt Red’s earnings report revealed that the target dates for the new variants of both games were “late 2021.” On an earnings call, CD Projekt’s Michael Nowakowski suggested that the date could slip into 2022.

These PS5 and Xbox Series X|S variants will leverage the power afforded by the new hardware, making them look and, probably, run better than the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Details on particular enhancements or decreased load times have not yet been shared. Additionally, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will come with all earlier released expansions, along with new content motivated by the Netflix TV adaptation.

Those who own the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are qualified for a free upgrade to the new versions when they come out. Certain upgrades are available on the latest systems now, though the game is not a bespoke variant made for them.

Cyberpunk 2077 has had quite the year since it was released in December 2020. After being taken down from the PlayStation Network Store shortly after its release, it was reinstated back in June with a warning that players could still encounter issues when playing on the PS4 console. However, the game has got quite a number of patches this year to fix its performance and glitches.
