This Super Realistic Minecraft Map Looks Stunning
The Minecraft community created this stunning map and it was made by user qwryzu who made this another remarkable example of what’s possible with a lot of blocks. The new creation is called ‘Vales of Amoril’ and is a custom continent map finished with snowy mountains, dense forests, winding rivers, and green valleys. The level of detail that qwryzu has put into the map is remarkable, I had to do a double-take to make sure it is not a photograph.
On their Planet Minecraft page, qwryzu reveals that the build took them four months of work, and lots of practice through the other smaller maps they’ve built. They use the usual software for Minecraft building—World Machine and World Painter—but add the detail that all the rivers were made by hand, which is quite impressive considering the patience required.
The map can be downloaded and played for free, so get into the game and get it and just admire his masterpiece.
Creating realistic landscapes in Minecraft is a lot more complicated than it seems. Making things look naturalistic is the most difficult part, the cragginess of mountains, the curve of streams, trying to visualize the layout of a forest, but qwryzu has done an excellent job. I might jump back in later with some true-to-life Minecraft shaders turned on.
