Three New Xbox Security Features Placed By Microsoft
To keep Xbox accounts safe from hackers, Microsoft has today announced the placement of three new security features on the Xbox platform. To help Xbox owners safe as well as giving a handy fall-back if you ever forget your account name or become a target for malicious activity.
The first feature Microsoft has added helps you remember your username. Previously Xbox owners would have needed to call Xbox support for help, now help is available directly from the sign in screen.
Secondly, If you forget your password, or if someone else is trying to access your account, Microsoft will send a security code to your alternate email or phone number, listed in your recovery options, so make sure they are relevant and up-to-date.
Finally, Microsoft has implemented a new way for you to recover your account if a malicious user may have gained access. When Microsoft identifies any suspicious activity on your account it will automatically lock it. If this happens a message saying “It looks like someone else might be using your account” will appear. Previously when this message appeared, as with a forgotten username, you would have ended up calling Xbox Support, now Microsoft has added a recovery flow on the Xbox console allowing you to change your password and review your security settings without the need to make any calls.
