A gaming convention is considered a paradise for all game enthusiasts. It’s a place where you get the opportunity to play new games that’ll be out in the market. Consumer Electronics Show

Consumer Electronics (CES) started in 1967. Although this show is not available to the public, it’s one of the premier events announcing innovations and new product launches in the world of computers and electronics.



GenCon debuted in Indianapolis by 1968. That time, it described itself as, “The original, longest-running, best-attended, gaming convention in the world.” This event lasts for four days.


Comic-Con International

Comic-Con initially showcases comics and fantasy. However, in 1970, it branched out to be one of the top conventions of pop culture. Comic-Con in San Diego extended its genres from horror, science fiction to video games.


Origins Game Fair

This convention in Columbus, which is mainly geared around gaming, began in 1975. Origins Game Fair offers many activities, such as board games, minis, collectible card games (CCGs), role-playing games (RPGs), and electronic rooms. Also, this event features the Origins Awards, which is presented by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design.


Comic-Con: First Events Guide

In July 1987, Comic-Con made its Official Events Guide debut. This marked Comic-Con’s expansion, alongside its popularity in the world of gaming conventions.


Game Developers Conference

In April 1988, the largest annual congregation of video game developers was born. GDC presents tutorials, seminars, awards, and round tables. Also, it includes a discussion about game designing, programming, and developing topics.



A-kon was launched in 1989 at Dallas. It described itself as the oldest anime-based convention in North America that highlights gaming and independent film.


Anime Expo

Anime Expo started in 1992 as a 4-day event. It’s the largest anime and manga convention in North America. Also, considered the second longest-running anime exhibition after A-Kon.



Dexcon launched in 1993 as the host of many national and world gaming tournaments. It actually had a soft opening in 1991 to 550 attendees, which is a significant draw than nearby running conventions at the time.


Digital Hollywood

Digital Hollywood is a branch of CES that deals with smartphone and tablet convention. This event occurs twice a year, showcasing all mobile gamings and cross-platform technology.


Electronic Entertainment Expo

Premiered in 1995, Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is an event for computer and video game specialists. This convention showcases the latest innovations in consoles, mobile, handheld systems, and online gaming.


Tokyo Game Show

Tokyo Game Show launched the following year after E3. It features Japanese developers and their games, yet it also highlights some global technologies.



QuakeCon, formed in 1996, is considered one of the original video game tournaments in the United States. It’s known as the “Woodstock” of gaming exhibits.


D.I.C.E Summit

The Design, Innovate, Communicate, and Entertain (D.I.C.E.) Summit is a forum for top gaming executives. It focuses on the art and innovations of video games and independent gaming.



Supanova is an Australian traveling roadshow that started in April 2002. It features characters from sci-fi and fantasy worlds. Attendees also get to see giant cosplay battles, tons of comics, games, and videos.

Games Convention

Games Convention (GC), or the Leipzig Games Convention, is an annual trade show. It covers the best of video games in terms of infotainment, edutainment, and hardware. Like Supanova, it was established in 2002.

BAFTA Games Awards

The first British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Games Awards was held in the United Kingdom in 2003. This award-giving body acknowledges several gaming categories annually.


Emerald City Comicon

The Emerald City Comicon is a comic-based exhibition in the Pacific Northwest. It features different games, costumes, comics, discussion panels, and gaming tournaments. 


London Comic Con

London Comic Con is a comic-based event that focuses on anime, cult television, and gaming. This European convention is known for featuring actors from fantasy and sci-fi hits, such as Harry Potter and Doctor Who. 


PAX Prime

The first Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) was held in 2004. It celebrates a series of gaming culture, including handhelds, consoles, PCs, and more.



BlizzCon is based around Blizzard Entertainment’s famous series, such as StarCraft, Warcraft, and Diablo. This convention promotes assorted gaming and costume events, followed by concerts.


Paris Game Festival

Paris Game Festival is started in 2006 and opened to the public for 3 consecutive days. Also, this convention highlights the Game Business Summit intended for investors and developers.

New York Comic Con is the second largest comic event in the United States, with more than 133,000 attendees annually. This exhibition is not affiliated with ComicCon based in San Diego.


GameStop EXPO
