Ubisoft is Developing a Live-Action Pirate Series Based on SKULL & BONES
Ubisoft has a new pirate-themed game coming out in the near future called Skull & Bones and they are now developing it as a live-action series for the new upcoming game. They are joining forces with Atlas Entertainment (Dirty John, 12 Monkeys) to produce the drama and the project looks amazing and simply incredible.
The game is based during the end of the Golden Age of Piracy and it lets gamers customize their own ships, sail the Indian Ocean, and conduct naval combat in both solo and co-operative gameplay.
We don’t know much about the story that the series will tell, but Variety reports that it will feature a female lead. I think a series like this that revolves around pirates has magnificent potential. I love pirates and I’ll definitely be looking forward to this show and hope that it turns out good.
Amanda Segel is set to write the pilot and executive produce it. Segel previously executive produced the series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist. She also co-executive produced the CBS series Person of Interest. She’s currently adapting the novel Autonomous for AMC.
Ubisoft is not just developing this project. They are working on a movie based on Tom Clancy’s The Division starring actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain; a live-action series based on its fairytale-like game Child of Light, and a movie based on their VR title Werewolves Within.
