Xbox Series X Back Panel Photo Revealed
Check out the back panel of the Xbox Series X which has been in talks for a while. Now, claimed photos have surfaced online of a prototype unit that may give some sense as to what Microsoft is planning to ship.
First revealed on Twitter and corroborated as real by Thurrott’s Brad Sams, the pictures show the Series X’s vents, two USB-A ports on the back, one on the front, a single HDMI-out, an optical audio port, Ethernet, and a power-in. A further mysterious rectangular port is for diagnostics, according to Sams. The unit also comes with a serial number and marked as “Xbox Product Name Placeholder.”
Even considering the photos’ authenticity, they shouldn’t be taken as symbolic of a complete product that isn’t set to be released for almost a year. It’s more than likely that Microsoft could alter the design or never thought prototype models to be exactly the same as retail units. That said, the images do recommend certain hardware choices on Microsoft’s part; the elimination of the Xbox One’s HDMI-in, for example, would mark the last backtrack from Xbox’s focus on TV features.
